Thanks for the comment and stumble John!

My post coming out tomorrow is actually taking a look at the difficulties associated with this. So it should read on well after this.

Good one Jarrod,

Life is simple. That is so true. And it is difficult, or should I say -- it takes discipline -- to get at that simplicity. Such a paradox. But so worth the effort.

Stumbled it for ya!

It is the stream of thoughts that constantly chatter on in which we do not consciously direct that create complications and unhappiness. The mind can still be used for thinking but it should only really be used when necessary rather than incessantly.

When I say a life of simplicity I am referring to the actions required to reach peace and happiness. Having an ordered and simple external world can aid in creating a simple internal world but unless you are dealing with the internal issues it will collapse eventually.

It is much more important to work on the internal world. Thinking and the way the mind works is complicated. The state in which peace and happiness come forth is a simple state, free of thoughts and feelings. To get to this state is a matter of simple effort with direction. That is I am referring to and I believe you are to.

We think too much and that is causing life to be complicated. You are right to say that it takes effort not to think. But with practice, it is possible to have longer and longer gaps and spaces between thoughts. This, I believe, is the doorway to clarity which is essential to a life of simplicity.
