Yes I am APA. Started Heisig 50 days ago (a method of which I'm quite impressed with).

It is quite interesting that after listening to soo much radio trying to listen to any sort of audio textbook component hurts, it just doesn't sound like normal Japanese.

Good luck! Here's a site that might be helpful for your studies.

http://www.iknow.co.jp/

In the top row, you can change the language from Japanese to English.

Hi Bud,

It's good to hear from someone else learning a language and it's cool to see that you have noticed the same thing with daily study.

I have a little graph tracking my vocabulary growth vs time. I'm trying to divorce myself from the estimated time to learn the basic set of characters and rather just be happy that the line is heading upwards. It is motivating to know that I'm always getting closer, not worrying about when I 'know' the language takes away the dread factor.

Great article.

I can relate as I moved to Shanghai last year. Learning a new language is very difficult, and I have struggled immensely in doing so. However I believe the reason for my struggles is ignorance. I have put off learning Chinese and consequently I have not learned as much as I should have. Only recently have I began to study Chinese nightly and have already noticed a great difference.
