Hi Jarrod

It is the fake it till you make it theory. It is not a matter of pretending for the sake of pending but more a matter of creating an image of ourselves that can convince us that we are really more than we might think.

Well said.

@Amanda: Right, the first step to being what you want is to actually go out and be it!

@Evelyn: I guess it depends on what you are trying to achieve. If it is a change in behaviour then pretending or rather fully acting in the desired way works well. Their will be internal resistence (like fear) which has to be dealt with.

On the other hand if you want to be someone who can work anywhere in the world changing countries every few months then you have to take it step by step in order to ensure you have the physical required resources to sustain such a behaviour.

Pretending can give us a false sense of security. It can take us up to a certain level. In my opinion, best is to work in incremental steps and constantly realign ourselves until we reach our ultimate goal.

Hi Jarrod - Pretending to be something that you want to be is a great first step. We don't always have the confidence starting out in the role we want to occupy, but doing a bit of acting can help you put your mind in the right place so that you can eventually be the thing that you want. Thanks :)
