@Martin: The knowing of the distinction between thoughts/emotions and being is probably the same thing I am getting at.

The underlying goal being to be able to distinguish between ‘being’ and thoughts/emotions. Whether there is an actual gap (measured in what?.. psychological space!?!) is likely a matter of perception. I certainly remember I time where I thought there was just thoughts and emotions and consequently lived entangled by them.

I can not see that I can feel a gap. But knowing that thoughts and emotions can be detached from my being then I can see the chance to get control over them.
